A little understanding
goes a long way.
How do I test it?
At the end of a hard effort, note your heart rate. Stop and stand or walk slowly, then note it again after exactly 1 minute and 2 minutes.
What is a good result?
A drop of 12 bpm or less in the first minute is linked with higher health risk. 13–20 is typical, 21–30 is good and over 30 is excellent.
Is this calculator for me?
It suits most healthy adults. Results are estimates. If you have a heart condition, are pregnant or are new to exercise, check with your GP before increasing your activity.
