BEHIND YOUR NUMBER

A little understanding
goes a long way.

Gradient, angle or ratio?

Gradient is rise ÷ horizontal distance × 100. A 10% gradient is about 5.7° and a ratio of 1 in 10.

Path distance or map distance?

GPS and maps usually give horizontal distance. If you measured along the slope, choose “Along the slope” and we correct for it.
