How much should I tip in the UK?
10–12.5% is usual in restaurants when service isn’t already included. Check the bill first: many add a “discretionary” service charge, which you don’t have to pay if service was poor.
Do staff get the tips?
Since October 2024, UK law requires employers to pass all tips and service charges to workers, without deductions, and to have a written tipping policy.
