A little understanding
goes a long way.
How many bricks per m²?
Standard UK bricks (215 × 102.5 × 65 mm) with 10 mm joints need about 60 bricks per m² for a single-skin wall, and 120 for a double-skin (one brick thick) wall.
How much mortar?
Roughly 0.02–0.03 m³ of mortar per m² of single-skin wall. A 1:4 cement-to-sand mix is common for general walls.
How accurate is this?
It gives a good estimate for planning and ordering. Check the coverage and sizes on the products you buy, measure carefully, and keep receipts so you can return unopened extras.
