BEHIND YOUR NUMBER

A little understanding
goes a long way.

What is training volume?

Volume load, or tonnage, is sets × reps × weight. It is a simple way to compare sessions and track whether your workload is growing.

Volume = sets × reps × weight

Is more volume always better?

No. Volume should rise gradually. Big jumps from one week to the next increase fatigue and injury risk.

Is this calculator for me?

It suits anyone who lifts, from beginners to experienced lifters. Results are estimates. Technique, sleep, food and stress all change what you can lift on the day. Always warm up and use a spotter or safety bars for heavy sets.
